We know, we know. Summer isn't technically over yet.
But there is something about the first hint of cooler weather that suddenly makes us want to make plans again.
Long dinners.
Red wine.
Girls' nights that require an actual outfit.
A Tuesday evening that gives you something to look forward to all week.
And apparently, we have decided to make your fall calendar VERY easy to fill.
September: We're Starting Strong
Besides a new Bar Plates menu for the fall, September kicks off with several dates in our new Perfect Pair series — our excuse to celebrate some of the wine world's official grape and wine days with a one-day-only pairing.
Stop in for the featured glass + bite on:
September 1 — Cap Classique Day
September 3 — Cabernet Sauvignon Day
September 4 — Chianti Day
September 18 — Grenache Day
No class.
No commitment.
Just a very good reason to meet someone for a glass after work.
Rosehall Run Comes to Sudbury
Prince Edward County favourite Rosehall Run Vineyards is taking over Wander for two nights in September.
On Thursday, September 10th , J.J. Syer joins us for a five-wine, five-course Culinary Evening showcasing a selection of Rosehall Run wines.
Then on Friday, September 11, things get much more casual with a drop-in Taste-and-Buy evening.
Taste the wines, chat with the person who actually knows the stories behind them, snack a little, and take your favourites home.
Wine country without the drive? We'll take it.
French Bistro Night — September 15th
Our fall wine classes officially get delicious with French Bistro Night.
Five courses. Five French wines. Five different wine regions.
Think classic French flavours, beautiful bottles and the kind of leisurely dinner that makes a random Tuesday feel considerably more interesting.
Very tiny table in Paris. Considerably less expensive airfare.
October: Enter Cozy Season
By October, we're leaning fully into the season.
Slow Food & Wine — October 6th
Some dishes simply cannot be rushed.
Braised, simmered, roasted, reduced, baked — Slow Food & Wine is dedicated to all the glorious foods that take their sweet time getting good.
We'll pair five cozy courses with five wines made for exactly this kind of eating.
This is the night for the friend who starts talking about sweaters and red wine the second the temperature drops below 20°C.
Pinotage Day — October 10th
Our Perfect Pair series continues with Pinotage Day on Saturday, October 10th.
One featured wine. One little plate designed to go with it. Available for that day only.
Consider it a very easy Saturday plan.
Trail Estate Winery — October 14th
Then another Prince Edward County favourite comes north.
Vintner Alex Sproll of Trail Estate Winery joins us for a five-course Culinary Evening featuring five special wines from one of Ontario's most interesting producers.
If you like wines that make you stop mid-sip and say, wait…what IS this? — put this one on your list.
And Then Things Get a Little Darker…
It's October. Obviously we couldn't behave ourselves all month.
For the final week, we're taking you on a Passport to the Underworld — a dark, cheeky little culinary trip inspired by some of Europe's most deliciously macabre destinations and legends.
No costume required.
A slightly questionable sense of humour may help.
Follow us here, on socials to read more about this dark journey to come.
Red Wine Season Is Coming
And we're not stopping when October ends.
As the nights get colder, our pairing classes move right along with them, including Fireside Reds, built around cozy dishes and the bottles you actually want to open when it's cold outside.
Then we'll finish the season with Holidays Around Europe, because nothing says December at Wander quite like travelling across Europe one plate and wine glass at a time — without airport security, lost luggage or jet lag.
Fridays Are Still Fridays
Of course, you don't need a ticket to have something on the calendar.
Our Friday Pincho Parties continue every week from 6–8pm, with the bar covered in bite-sized things, plenty of wine flowing and absolutely no requirement to turn your Friday into a formal dinner.
Come for one glass.
We all know how that usually goes.
Consider This Your Sign to Make Some Plans
Fall gets busy surprisingly fast.
Work gets busier.
Calendars fill.
Holiday obligations creep in.
Suddenly the friend you've been saying “we NEED to get together” to since June is texting you in December.
Don't be those people.
Pick a night.
Send the group chat.
Buy the tickets.
Put something genuinely fun on the calendar before everything else gets there first.
Full event details, tickets and newly added dates can always be found on our online Event Calendar.
We'll bring the wine.
You just need to show up.
