We are thrilled to join in the celebration of jazz in Sudbury with three performances by local musician Louis Simão and his friend David French from Toronto.

Winner of the 2017 Song of the Year at the International Portuguese Music Awards and the 2017 Canadian Folk Music Awards World Solo Artist of the Year, Sudbury-based musician Louis Simão has been composing, performing, and recording as a multi-instrumentalist in a variety of genres for over twenty years, having worked with Nelly Furtado, Kiran Ahluwalia, Patricia Cano, Dominic Mancuso, Michael Occhipinti, Vesuvius Ensemble, Luis Mario Ochoa, Justin Rutledge, Guinga, Henrique Cazes, Sophie Milman, Bill McBirnie, David Buchbinder, “MARIA SEVERA” at The Shaw Festival, Tapestry New Opera Works, Eliana Cuevas, and Aline Morales, among others. Simão will be releasing his next album in the winter of 2023.

David French is a Toronto-based saxophonist who has worked with many artists including Louis Simão, Allison Au, Harley Card, Morgan Childs, Michael Davidson, Dan Fortin, Trevor Giancola, Devon Henderson, Aline Homzy, Reg Schwager, Don Thompson, Jim Vivian, Steve Wallace, Dave Young, Broken Social Scene, La Force, Hayden, the Queer Songbook Orchestra, the Sam Roberts Band, STARS, and Son Lux. He recently appeared on Lauren Falls’ 2023 Juno nominated album “A Little Louder Now”.
